privacy
einar.ai keeps track of who knows what at work. The controller is Hafsaas Foundry (Andreas Hafsaas), hello@einar.ai.
in short
- Your notes are for your eyes only. Not even the person a note is about sees them.
- Only your network sees your profile, and you are not in the network until you have said yes. You can leave at any time.
- You can connect with people you see. Contacts see each other whatever network they are in, and either can remove the contact at any time.
- Nothing is sold, and nothing is used to train AI models.
- Aggregated figures and feedback without a sender are analysed weekly by an agent to improve the service.
- You can delete everything yourself, at any time.

*Your network is colleagues with the same verified email domain, people you have exchanged an answered question with, and people connected to you through an invite link. When several companies in the same group are registered together in Einar, those who work in them see each other's profiles as if they were one workplace. Colleagues see each other only when both have said yes to being in the network (see below). Your notes stay just as private. Your name and role are also seen by someone who already has your address: someone who has noted you or has an open question with you.
Consent to the network
Having an account does not make you visible to colleagues. You become visible to them at your workplace, and in companies in the same group, only when you say yes yourself: with «Bli med» at einar.ai, by answering yes when Einar asks, or by joining through an invite link. It works both ways: you see colleagues only while you are in, and they see you only while they are in. You can leave the network at any time under settings, and your profile is gone for them at once. Only you ever see your notes.
Who processes the data for us
- SupabaseDoes: The databaseWhere: EU (Stockholm)Keeps: Until deleted here
- VercelDoes: Runs the websiteWhere: USAKeeps: Logs for a short time
- ResendDoes: Sends emailWhere: USAKeeps: 30 days
- AnthropicDoes: Writes Einar’s replies in Slack and in the Chrome panel, suggests hidden search words for profile topics, files each topic under concepts from its text and kind (so KI, AI and artificial intelligence find the same people), and reads links and PDFs you give him to read you in. When you search on einar.ai, it gets the search and up to 30 of the topics you can already see on the people found, with their kind, to sort the results; never names, email addresses or notesWhere: USAKeeps: Up to 30 days
- OpenAIDoes: Turns profile topics and searches into numbers, so Einar finds by meaning. Never notes.Where: USAKeeps: Up to 30 days
Transfers to the USA are covered by the EU standard contractual clauses in the vendors' data processing agreements. None of them uses the data for training. In Claude and ChatGPT it is your own assistant that reads and writes: einar.ai sees only what you ask it to save or send, never your conversations.
What an administrator sees
A few people (the administrators of einar.ai) run the service. They see accounts, which networks you are in, numbers, how much of Elina in Slides you use, and the structure of the service. They never see your private notes about colleagues, the content of questions between two people or your inbox: only that something happened. What an administrator does, such as setting a limit or blocking a user, is kept in a log that only administrators see. How long Einar takes to answer is kept for 90 days, without who asked or what you asked about.
An administrator also sees which getting-started steps you have done, for example that you have written a role or read in a CV, but not what you wrote. An administrator can turn off Einar's reminders and «Did you get help?» questions for you. Your settings then say so, and your own choice there stays as it was.
Your rights
- To see, correct and delete: you do most of it yourself, on your profile and under settings.
- A copy of your data, also in a machine-readable format, restricting its use, or objecting to the usage log: write to hello@einar.ai. You get an answer within a month.
- If you are in someone's notes without being on einar.ai, the same applies: write, and you learn what is stored about you, or have it removed.
- If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet.
Details
Deleting the account
Under settings, by asking Einar in Claude or ChatGPT, or by writing «slett kontoen min» to Einar in Slack. You see what is deleted and confirm before anything happens.
Deleted
- Your notes, and the people you linked to them
- Your profile: name, role, what you have said about yourself and your sources
- Questions still waiting for an answer
- Everyone you have blocked
- Your email addresses
- Feedback you sent to Andreas with your name
- Your sign-in, so the address can start completely afresh
Kept
- Answered questions stay with the other person, and their answers stay with you, but without a name or address
- Notes others have written remain theirs. The link to you is removed, so the note no longer points at you and does not have your address
- If someone wrote your name or address into the text of their own note, that text is theirs and stays as they wrote it
- Figures used to measure einar.ai, with nothing that identifies you
If you have two accounts, you can merge them in settings. You must be signed in on one and enter a code sent to the other. Everything moves to the account you are signed in with, and the other account is deleted along with its sign-in. A merge moves your data in all the apps (for example your talks and the Elina budget in Slides), not only in Einar.
Einar in Slack
The first time you write to Einar yourself, you get an account with the name and the verified email address from Slack. Never because someone else mentions you.
To answer, Einar reads the conversation from Slack and sends it, and what he finds in profiles and your notes, to Anthropic. The messages are not stored at einar.ai. If you paste a link, he reads only that page.
When a workspace adds Einar, we store the workspace's name and id, the Slack id of whoever added him, and the key Slack gives us to answer there. The key stays on the server. All of it is deleted when Einar is removed from the workspace.
Einar in Chrome
Einar in Chrome only sends text that you select yourself and choose to send to Einar. It does not read the pages you visit, and it does not store anything itself. What you send is treated as if you had written it at einar.ai. Einar answers what you write under «Fortell Einar» the same way he does in Slack, so the text goes to Anthropic, and a link in it is read the same way as a link you paste in Slack.
Email you may get
Sign-in links, a welcome when you get an account, and questions from colleagues. Every question has a link that blocks the sender in one click. If you reply to the email, the reply goes straight to the person who asked, without passing through einar.ai. The owner gets an email with your name and address when you get an account.
Feedback to Andreas
Only when you ask Einar to pass it on yourself, and you see the text before it is sent. Andreas gets it by email and reads it himself, and unless you send it anonymously, he can answer you. Anonymous feedback has no name and does not go into the usage log. It is deleted after 12 months, and feedback with a name also when you delete the account.
Now and then Einar asks on einar.ai what you would like to use him for. If you answer, the answer goes the same way, together with the question and the page it was asked on. That you answered, chose «Not now» or «Don't ask me again» is kept on your account so you are not asked again, and is deleted with the account.
The usage log
It says that a note was saved, a question sent or a search made, and whether it was in Claude, ChatGPT or Slack. Never the content. It also counts clicks on things that do not exist yet, to know who wants them. After 12 months it is deleted, except when you joined and whether you have connected Claude.
If you press email, Slack, the profile or «ask» by someone Einar found, it records who you pressed. If you got in touch by email or in Slack, Einar asks you once by email a few days later whether you got help. He asks at most once per person within 30 days. The person you pressed on never sees it. What Einar keeps in order to ask is deleted 30 days after he asked, or after 45 days if he never asked. The press itself is in the usage log and is deleted with it.
